Hi,

I'm Jason Menguito, .NET Software Engineer, working at Lawson Software (same with Sir Oboy). A newbie in Agile implementations but I've read concepts behind the methodology. I'm most interested in TDD and looking forward to learn more about Agile implementations to be posted on this community and hope to contribute something as well. =)

Good to have this community.

Thanks and regards,
Jason

Hi Fellow Agile practitioners! Thank you for joining our growing community and welcome to Agile Philippines.

We have prepared a new line up of courses for 2010, so whether you are a business owner, a project manager, or a developer—there is surely an Agile course for you.

Certified ScrumMaster Course (CSM)
DATE: February 3 and 4, 2010

Codelean’s popular course returns for its third incarnation. If you want to learn Scrum from its basics down to its intricacies and practical applications, sign up today and learn Scrum from certified Scrum instructor Bas Vodde. Many companies have already benefited from learning about the Scrum way of organizing and planning projects. The Scrum way of doing things will greatly improve your ability to respond quickly to the market and raise the productivity and morale of your team. Become a certified ScrumMaster and recognized worldwide by the Scrum Alliance at http://www.scrumalliance.org/scrum_certification.

Certified Scrum Product Owner Course (CSPO)
DATE: February 17 and 18, 2010

One of the keys to success in an Agile organization is the Scrum Product Owner, who establishes the interaction between the business and the Scrum delivery team and is responsible for a project's Return on Investment (ROI). The Certified Scrum Product Owner Course teaches you how to use and maximize the efficiency of the product backlog--establishing and maintaining the backlog and writing stories with clear acceptance criteria. Certified Scrum Trainer Kane Mar will teach you practical tools and techniques for Scrum success, discussing real-world challenges such as managing distributed teams, large projects, and release planning. Recommended for product managers, business analysts, ScrumMasters, testers, executives, and anyone who wants to understand the desires of customers in Agile projects.

An Introduction to Agile Engineering Practices
DATE: February 19, 2010

Agile Engineering practices such as continuous integration, pair programming, and test-driven development help keep the software code as sleek as possible, in line with Agile standards and principles. These practices will help you and your team perform better, learn quicker, reduce delivery risk, and maximize opportunities. Scrum Coach Kane Mar invites all developers, testers, and project managers who want to understand these software development concepts to learn about them through in-depth interaction and effective exercises.

Improving Software Design with Refactoring
DATE: January 28-29 and March 12 and 19, 2010 (tentative)

How would you like to reduce the overall cost of developing, deploying, and maintaining any system during the course of its lifetime? Refactoring is the process of improving the structure of your code to allow for later extensions or to make maintenance of the code easier. Make your code comprehensible, easy to read, and easy to maintain with refactoring with Codelean Lead Developer Philip Laureano. Learn how to handle the common scenarios that you will encounter whenever you add new features of an existing system. Highly recommended for mid- and senior-level software developers who create or maintain object-oriented systems and frameworks, and managers who want to understand the details of Agile-centered programming practices.

Venues are to be announced.

Hi Jun,

Nice to see you here in Agile.ph. I hope you are doing well in Canada. Yes Scrum is slowly getting accepted here in the country now since we started to bring in the Certification course April of last year. Hope you can join us in one of the meet ups that we will soon organize for all the CSMs and Agile practitioners here in the Philippines and elsewhere :) .

This is one community that we need to spice up and help grow in the coming months and years.

Oh and I hope to see you too in our google groups: http://groups.google.com/group/agilephilippines/ to share your experiences and more. :)

Cheers!

Hi, I'm Jose Elias Calderon ("Joel" for short). I'm the technical project manager at REWSS, Philippines (www.rewss.com), a Danish shrink-wrap software development company specializing in telecom applications, specifically in performance and fault management systems.

I was the one who introduced Scrum to REWSS, and had been its champion for almost 3 years now. I'm yet to get any certification, though.

Regards,
Joel

Hi Joel,

Nice to meet you! I am always glad to meet more and more Scrum and Agile practitioners here in the country. By the way, would you by any chance be interested to get your certification this time? We have Certified ScrumMaster courses in Manila that are scheduled in September and October! Please follow this link for details http://codelean.com/en/Training/UpcomingEvents.aspx. I'll also send you a formal invite nonetheless so you can check it out soon.

Hope to see you in one of our courses.
